UPS Impersonator Charged with Armed Robbery

A man impersonating a UPS delivery driver was arrested after an attempted armed robbery in Pompano Beach.

The man knocked on the door of a 65-year-old woman, claiming he had a package he needed her to sign for. When she took the clipboard, he pulled a handgun. She shoved him back and began screaming for help. The man ran to his car, and the woman ran after him with a cellphone. He assumed she had taken pictures of him, so he wrestled her to the ground and took the phone.

He dropped the boxes he was carrying. One was empty and the other contained eight plastic zip ties and a roll of duct tape. Detectives were able to ID the man after processing the evidence. He was arrested at his home in Boca Raton and faces charges of robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault.
