Woman Driving with Shredded Tire Faces DUI Charge

Less than a week after being arrested on drug charges, a 19-year-old Wellington woman was arrested again after crashing into a pole and trying to drive off with a shredded tire.

According to an article in the Sun Sentinel, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy found the woman driving north on Haverhill Road with her car’s tire shredded to the rim. A witness told deputies that the woman had veered across the road and into a utility pole. The witness went to check to see if she was OK, but she drove off. Another witness told police the woman crossed into oncoming traffic.

When the woman was pulled over, she told the deputy she had just left a methadone clinic. She had three phones in her car, and when asked why she didn’t call police after the crash, she said the phones were out of minutes. The woman passed out in the back of the deputy’s car and was taken to Wellington Regional Hospital. She now faces charges of DUI, hit-and-run, drug possession and probation violations.
