Man Charged with DUI After Sleeping Behind the Wheel

A 24-year-old Delray Beach man was found sleeping behind the wheel of his car while stopped at a red light.

A state trooper decided to investigate after he noticed the car did not move when the light turned green. The driver was found asleep, and when he awoke, he allegedly was mumbling, slurring his speech and had bloodshot, glassy eyes. He was arrested after undergoing several roadside tests.

While in the patrol car, the man told the trooper that he had no proof with which to arrest him. He also refused a breath test and refused to sign a summons. He now faces charges of DUI and refusing to accept or sign a citation.
