Driver Charged in Crash That Killed Pedestrian

A man who was driving almost 40 mph over the speed limit has been charged with vehicular homicide due to a crash that killed a 73-year-old pedestrian.

According to an article in the Sun Sentinel, investigators determined that the man tried to take a curve at 69 mph when the posted speed limit was 30 mph. As he continued, he tried to swerve around another vehicle, lost control and hit a curb before going airborne. The airborne car killed the pedestrian immediately. Five witnesses provided sworn, taped statements and said that the man was speeding and out of control.
