Man Accused Of Carjacking, Crashing Vehicle

A man is accused of carjacking and then crashing a car in Hallandale Beach.

The owner of the car said the man approached him at a gas station and demanded the keys to the car. The man allegedly took a boxer's stance and threatened to use force. After driving away in the stolen vehicle, the suspect crashed the vehicle. He fled on foot, and officers had to draw their weapons to make him stop.

The damage to the stolen vehicle is estimated at $1,000. The man had no driver's license, but had an ID card that had been suspended due to failure to pay tickets. He now faces charges of carjacking without a firearm or weapon, leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property and driving without a license.
