Operation Bad Santa Results In 56 Arrests

A law enforcement sweep across Broward County, dubbed Operation Bad Santa, resulted in 56 arrests, according to an article in the Sun Sentinel.

Before dawn on Thursday, officers from police departments in Fort Lauderdale, Sunrise, Plantation, Hallandale Beach, Margate, Coral Springs and Coconut Creek joined forces to serve about 302 warrants from the estimated 220,000 unfilled authorizations for arrests of felony and misdemeanor offenses in Broward County. They were joined by agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Marshals Service and state probation and parole officers.

Among the arrested were suspects in violent crimes, juvenile offenders and those late with child support payments. These types of warrant sweeps occur in Broward County several times a year. Predawn searches for suspects will continue during the holiday season, through the new year.
