Home Caregiver Accused of Stealing Credit Card from Elderly Patient

A 23-year-old home caregiver is accused of stealing a credit card from her elderly patient in order to go shopping.

According to an article in the Sun Sentinel, Sesily Jamel Edwards was arrested after being pulled over for a faulty headlight. The deputy said he smelled marijuana in the car, but none was found. What was found were three bags containing clothing and a purse along with two receipts totaling $368.15 and an American Express Costco Card that belonged to an 83-year-old Palm Beach Gardens man that Edwards had been caring for.

The man told deputies that nobody had permission to use the credit card. Edwards faces charges of grand theft, exploitation of an elderly person and fraudulent use of a credit card. She is being held in lieu of $9,000 bail.
