Hit-And-Run Driver Thought He Hit Glass

A suspected hit-and-run driver says he thought he hit a piece of glass on the road, when he actually ran a red light and hit a car containing three women.

According to an article in the Sun Sentinel, a witness to the crash followed the driver, Robert Childs, and kept dispatchers updated on his location. When police caught up to Childs, he told them that he hit a piece of glass. Officers noted that he seemed to be impaired. In his car, they found a bag of marijuana, a glass pipe and a vaporizer with marijuana inside it.

The women in the car Childs hit were taken to the hospital. Two of the women had serious injuries. All three are expected to survive. Childs is charged with two counts of hit and run causing injury, one count of marijuana possession and three counts of drug equipment possession.
