Suspect In Fatal Stabbing Apprehended Nearby

A man accused of fatally stabbing another man in a Hollywood home was apprehended nearby after fleeing the scene.

According to an article in the Sun Sentinel, Pedro Juan Nieves and Pedro Morales were both staying in the home of Jeanne Carrero. Carrero said she allowed both men to stay with her because they were homeless. Someone else from the residence called 911 to report a stabbing shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Carrero said she woke up when the men started fighting and tried to intervene, but was knocked unconscious. Nieves stabbed Morales three times in the back with a serrated kitchen knife. Another resident of the house was able to disarm Nieves and his in the bathroom until Nieves fled. Morales was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
