A Lake Worth woman is accused of stealing more than $1,200 worth of scratch-off and instant-win lottery tickets while she was employed at Walmart.

According to an article in the Sun Sentinel, Melissa Lynn Rivera stole the lottery tickets in hopes of paying off her student loan and finding an apartment. Investigators were able to match security video with Rivera’s shifts in the Walmart Marketplace Liquor Store and watched as she printed some tickets and stole other scratch-off tickets.

Rivera took all the tickets while customers were not nearby. She says she won $28 from the stolen tickets. She now faces charges of grand theft.
