Using a backhoe, thieves were able to rip an ATM from the drive through lanes of a Miramar Bank of America.

The backhoe was stolen from a nearby construction site. After using it to tear the cash machine from its holding base, the ATM was placed in a box truck that had been stolen in Miami-Dade county. The truck was recovered three hours later in Opa-locka, along with the ATM. Authorities do not yet know if the thieves were able to get and cash from the ATM.

The backhoe was abandoned at the bank where the thieves apparently crashed into the side of the building during the heist, damaging the structure. What appeared to be a metal top portion of the ATM was found near the drive through lanes.
