Carole Lessen wanted to teach her grandson responsibility so she gave him her bank account information and asked that he pay her bills while she was sick. However, over a 16-month period, her grandson wrote $60,000 in checks to himself in order to maintain the appearance of a drug dealer. Francis Buckley-Lessen admitted to stealing the money after he started associating with the wrong crowd and doing drugs, according to the police report.  He took money from his grandmother’s line of credit and put it in her checking account so the balance would stay high.
