A young couple is accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of equipment from boats docked at three different boatyards over two weeks.

The pair was taken into custody after they went to a pawn shop with the stolen property. Broward sheriff’s detectives happened to already be in the store looking for other stolen items taken from local marinas. Surveillance video also captured the couple walking along the dock of one marina, boarding bats and carrying several bags to the parking lot at night. Up to $80,000 worth of property was stolen from more than 20 boats during the spree.

The male suspect admitted to using a screwdriver and wire cutters to remove GPS devices and other equipment from the boats. The couple now faces charges of burglary and grand theft.
