A car thief made a high-speed getaway from a Boynton Beach gas station on Tuesday.
The victim of the theft told police he left the keys in his gray 2006 Mercedes E350 when he went into a Mobil gas station. When he stepped outside the, he saw his car being driven away at a high speed. A bystander helped police use an iPad to track the car, which swerved in and out of traffic at more than 100mph.
Broward Sheriff’s deputies tracked the car to Deerfield Mall. The car was found, but the thief was already gone, along with the victim’s iPad and case. Total damage from the incident is said to be $5,500.
